Statement from Senate Majority Leader Lisa
Brown
regarding Sen. Bill Finkbeiner's decision not to seek
re-election to state SenateApril 27, 2006
“Sen. Finkbeiner and I started our legislative careers
together in the House in 1993. Although we haven’t been on
the same side of every issue, I have always respected his
independence.
“I particularly admired his courage this past session to
vote in favor of the gay rights legislation, which was a
real turning point for a bill that previously had dwindled
for three decades.
“I will miss working with him and wish him the best. I
hope he doesn’t become a stranger to Olympia.”
