Education: Bachelor of Science, Forest Management, Oregon State University.

Occupation: Self-employed.

Recent Awards and Recognitions:

  • 2005 Legislator of the Year for the Washington Arms Collectors

  • Institute for Family Development recognition award for improving the lives of children and families and for leadership and support of family preservation services.

  • Tacoma Urban Network recognition award for outstanding work on behalf of children, youth and families.

  • Washington Association of Juvenile Court Administrators’ Award of Appreciation.

  • Washington Low-income Housing Alliance “Housing Hero” award, 2003.

  • American Merchant Marines recognition award for assistance to merchant marines and veterans.

Civic Organizations and Activities: Grays Harbor Chamber of Commerce; member, Grays Harbor Economic Development Council; Hoquiam Little League; actively involved in the local Christian community.

Personal: Married to Laurie Hargrove. They have three children, Jimmy-Jack, Jewel, and Daniel.
