Nov. 29, 2007 Senate Democrats announce
new committee assignments
OLYMPIA – Senate Democrats today announced several
changes to committee membership, necessitated by the
departure of Sen. Erik Poulsen several months ago and the
election of Sen. Joe

Sen. Brian Hatfield,
D-Raymond, who had been appointed to fill a seat vacated
by Sen. Mark Doumit.
Sen. Phil
Rockefeller, D-Kitsap County, will serve as chair of
the Water, Energy & Telecommunications (WET) Committee. He
previously was committee vice chair.
Sen. Ed Murray, D-Seattle,
will serve as committee vice chair, giving up his seat on
the Judiciary Committee. Hatfield will serve on the WET
Committee, leaving his seat on the Financial Institutions
Committee. He will also take a seat on the Natural Resources
Committee.
McDermott will serve on the Early Learning & K-12,
Governmental Operations & Elections, and Judiciary
committees.
Sen. Karen Keiser,
