Lake Forest Park
OLYMPIA – The Senate’s 2007–09 capital budget, approved
this past weekend, includes almost $4 million for Shoreline
Community College and $1 million for Saint Edward Park.
“We pay our taxes and we get back government services and
projects,” said Sen. Darlene Fairley, D-Lake Forest Park.
“That’s how it works.”
The capital budget, intended for construction and
improvement projects, includes $13.6 million for
construction in the 32nd District. Projects include:
- $800,000 for the Shoreline YMCA;
- $300,000 for Richmond Beach Park renovation;
- $150,000 for the Kruckeberg Botanical Garden;
- $1 million for Saint Edward Park; and
- $3.9 million for Shoreline Community College.
The budget also includes $13.5 million for Edmonds Community
College, which serves many residents of the 32nd District.
The Senate’s 2007–09 capital budget must still be reconciled
with House proposals before going to the governor for
signature.
The Legislature is scheduled to adjourn on April 22.
