May 14, 2007 Taking care of business
OLYMPIA – He’s been a soldier and a senator. Now
he can add one more title to his résumé. The Everett and the
South Snohomish County Chambers of Commerce announced last
week that Sen. Steve Hobbs, D-Lake Stevens, is a
recipient of their annual “Business Champion” award.
“Supporting our small businesses is the key to creating
more jobs and growing a strong economy,” said Hobbs.
Todd Morrow, chair of the Joint Government Affairs
Committee for the South Snohomish County and Everett Area
Chambers of Commerce, noted his gratitude for Hobbs’
efforts. “For a first-year senator to be so accessible is
pretty remarkable,” Morrow said. “We really appreciate the
time he spent with us and the support he has given to the
business community.”
Morrow said 65 bills were used to rate lawmakers this
session, and lawmakers who voted with the committee agenda
75 percent of the time or better received “Business
Champion” honors.
“I’m honored,” Hobbs said. “It’s nice to see our state as
a partner with business and not an obstruction. This is a
relationship I plan on building with our business leaders.
