Equality for all Washington families
OLYMPIA – Democrats from the state Senate and the
House of Representatives will unveil two separate
legislative proposals designed to provide equality for all
Washington families.
The proposals include a bill to extend domestic
partnership benefits to same-sex couples and a bill to
extend marriage equality to same-sex couples.
Sen. Ed Murray, D-Seattle, Rep. Joe McDermott,
D-West Seattle, Rep. Jim Moeller, D-Vancouver,
Rep. Jamie Pedersen, D-Seattle, and Rep. Dave
Upthegrove, D-Des Moines will introduce the two
proposals and answer questions at a press conference at 10
a.m. on Thursday (Jan. 11) in Senate Hearing Room 2 of the
John A. Cherberg Building.
Representatives from gay and lesbian and civil liberties
organizations will also be in attendance for comments and
questions.
