OLYMPIA – The state Senate tomorrow will take up a
resolution honoring the late King County Deputy Steve Cox.
Members of Cox’s family, as well as former co-workers from
the King County Sheriff’s Office, are expected to attend.
“The entire community of White Center is still grieving
him, yet they are inspired to carry on his legacy – that
working with the police in the spirit of mutual respect is
possible,” said Sen. Erik Poulsen, D-West Seattle,
the resolution’s sponsor.
Cox, a deputy for King County for nine years, lost his
life in the line of duty Dec. 2. At his memorial service
that same month, Gov. Chris Gregoire called him the
“embodiment of the best in public service.”
The resolution will be read in the Senate Chamber
at approximately 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28.
