Jan. 14, 2008 Hatfield sworn into
Washington Senate
OLYMPIA
Sen. Brian Hatfield, D-Raymond, was sworn into the
Washington State Senate on the first day of the 2008
legislative session.
It is an honor working with my fellow lawmakers on
issues important to people in Wahkiakum, Cowlitz, Pacific,
and Grays Harbor counties and the rest of Washington,
Hatfield said.
Hatfield has busy days ahead. He is vice chair of the
Agriculture & Rural Economic Development Committee, and the
new vice chair of the Natural Resources, Ocean & Recreation
Committee. He also serves on the influential Ways & Means
Committee as well as the Water, Energy and
Telecommunications Committee.
Hatfield is sponsoring several bills this session aimed
at helping schools gain access to fresh farm food and
improving our state parks.
Before being appointed to the Senate in 2006, he served
in the Washington State House of Representatives (19th
District) from 1994-2004. He was also the Liaison for
legislative and community relations to Lieutenant Gov. Brad
Owen from 2004-2006.
