Hatfield sworn into Washington Senate

OLYMPIA – Sen. Brian Hatfield, D-Raymond, was sworn into the Washington State Senate on the first day of the 2008 legislative session.

“It is an honor working with my fellow lawmakers on issues important to people in Wahkiakum, Cowlitz, Pacific, and Grays Harbor counties and the rest of Washington,” Hatfield said.

Hatfield has busy days ahead. He is vice chair of the Agriculture & Rural Economic Development Committee, and the new vice chair of the Natural Resources, Ocean & Recreation Committee. He also serves on the influential Ways & Means Committee as well as the Water, Energy and Telecommunications Committee.

Hatfield is sponsoring several bills this session aimed at helping schools gain access to fresh farm food and improving our state parks.

Before being appointed to the Senate in 2006, he served in the Washington State House of Representatives (19th District) from 1994-2004. He was also the Liaison for legislative and community relations to Lieutenant Gov. Brad Owen from 2004-2006.
