Hobbs appointed assistant majority whip
OLYMPIA
— The Senate Democratic Caucus has chosen Sen. Steve
Hobbs, D-Lake Stevens, as its assistant whip for the
2008 legislative session.
The job of whip is typically to help ensure that members
of their party are present for voting on bills. The term
originated in the Parliament of the United Kingdom and
derives from the "whipper-in" at a fox hunt.
Hobbs will be assisting
Sen. Debbie Regala, D-Tacoma in her role as Majority
Whip during the 2008 legislative session, which begins on
Monday, Jan. 14 and is scheduled to conclude on Thursday,
March 13.
