Labeling bill would protect state wheat market 1/26/2012
In Washington state, wheat is king.
This cash crop is one of the state's most lucrative exports, ranking right alongside Boeing and Microsoft. A bill sponsored by Sen. Maralyn Chase, D-Shoreline, seeks to protect Washington's wheat export market, the farmers who grow it and our economy as a whole.

Sen. Maralyn Chase on Wednesday took to the airwaves to discuss Senate Bill 5780, which would ban the distribution of plastic and paper bags in the state.

Sen. Maralyn Chase, D-Shoreline, was recently named Legislator of the Year by the Washington Association of Water and Sewer Districts, Section Four, which represents the 33 independent water and sewer districts serving King County.
"Because of Senator Chase's…strong advocacy of the peoples' right to vote on local government actions that may significantly impact their utility rates, the citizens of Shoreline will have a say in whether they want to take on millions of dollars in debt to buy a water system," said Shoreline Water District Commissioner Ron Ricker.
