Biography

After serving four terms in the House of Representatives, Fred Jarrett was elected to the Senate in 2008. He represents the Eastside’s 41st Legislative District, which includes south and central Bellevue, Mercer Island, Newcastle and parts of Renton and Issaquah.

He is serving as vice-chairman of the Higher Education and Workforce Development Committee and also has been named to serve on the Transportation Committee and the Early Learning and K-12 Education Committee.

Retired after a thirty-five year career with The Boeing Company, Jarrett is a former Mercer Island Mayor and also has served on its City Council and school board.  He graduated from Mercer Island High School and continues to live on Mercer Island with his wife Susan. Between them they have four children and five grandchildren
