Personal: Born and raised on the Olympic Peninsula, Derek and his wife Jennifer live in Gig Harbor with their daughters Sophie and Tess.
Education: BA in Public Affairs, Princeton University; Certificate in American Studies, Princeton University; PhD in Comparative Social Policy focused on economic development from University of Oxford
Elective Office: House of Representatives from 2005-2007
Professional Experience: Vice President of the Economic Development Board for Tacoma-Pierce County; Former business consultant for McKinsey & Co.
