1st legislative delegation to host public town hall on health reform 10/27/2009

 

Sen. Rosemary McAuliffe and Rep. Al O’Brien invite their constituents to a town hall with Sen. Karen Keiser, chair of the Senate Health & Long-Term Care Committee, and Rep. Eileen Cody, chair of the House Health Care & Wellness Committee. Keiser and Cody will address questions about health care issues and discuss how federal health reform efforts could impact Washington residents.

Jobs and congestion relief project underway on north I-405 10/26/2009

Today, a ground breaking ceremony officially announced the $19.3 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funded project that will relieve northbound I-405 traffic congestion in the greater Bothell area.

The project designs and builds a new northbound freeway lane between NE 195th Street and SR 527, where afternoon commuters face severe backups daily.

Work begins on Quality Education Council 8/27/2009

The council discussed federal “Race to the Top” funding for schools this morning. The funds come in the form of competitive grants from the U.S. Dept. of Education to states who are creating the conditions for educational innovation and reform. Also, state schools superintendent Randy Dorm was elected chair of the council. This afternoon they’ll start discussion on creating a  new funding system for Washington schools.
